Can Invisalign Only Be Administered By A Dentist?

Invisalign is a transparent aligner system custom-made using molds of your teeth. These aligners are made of pleasant BPA-free polymers that gently shift your teeth into place. Throughout therapy, patients are given new aligners every few weeks. Treatment times vary depending on the severity of the bite problems and cosmetic goals. Users don’t have to be self-conscious about wearing Randwick Invisalign aligners because they are undetectable.

Orthodontists are the common providers of Invisalign; however, it is the only orthodontic treatment that ordinary dentists can perform. Therefore, if you visit your dentist to inquire about teeth straightening, they will only discuss Invisalign procedures because that is the only option they have been trained on.

When you ask an orthodontist about teeth straightening, there are many more options to talk about. Orthodontists have been trained in many ways to repair crooked teeth. While many patients have their hearts set on Invisalign, they often change their minds after hearing about alternatives and are considerably happier with the expected result.

The Invisalign Ranking System

Despite the fact that Invisalign was designed as a treatment to be handled by orthodontists, dentists can also administer them. Orthodontists noticed how effective the approach was and how appealing it was to patients seeking straight teeth. Orthodontists were the first to offer the procedure, and it wasn’t long before patients preferred them to conventional dentists.

Despite the difference in skill levels, the approach is quite general and set up for convenient use by dentists and orthodontists. If this is the case, how can people decide which medical expert to seek treatment from? This is easily resolved by the ranking system. The ranking system is divided into four levels, determined by the number of Invisalign cases completed within a timeframe. The following are the four levels:

  • Preferred practitioners: preferred practitioners must have at least settled 10 Randwick Invisalign cases per year to be considered.
  • Premier rankings: professionals can obtain premier rankings with a minimum of 50 cases and an extra half of that (25 cases) every six months.
  • Premier Elite: only professional dentists can achieve Premier Elite status by treating at least 300 patients and an extra 50 patients every six months.
  • Super elite: here, only 1% of professionals can join Super Elite, a new ranking.

Which is Better for Invisalign—Dentist or Orthodontist?

Orthodontists and regular dentists are trained to use Randwick Invisalign, which means neither is better or worse. Instead, each patient must determine which option is the best for them.

Having Invisalign and going to follow-up appointments with a conventional dentist is handy, especially if it is your usual dentist. They can get their teeth cleaned, handling dental work such as teeth whitening, fillings, and teeth straightening all in one place.

Another advantage of getting Invisalign from a regular dentist is that they are already familiar with the patient’s dental history. They will have records of previous dental issues, which will allow them to give more comprehensive care.
