Scholarship Value
Scholarship monies may be used for the following expenses:
- Visa or study/work permit costs airfare via the most direct and inexpensive route
- Health insurance living expenditures like as housing, utilities, and food ground transportation, including public transportation passbooks and supplies needed for their studies or research (excluding computers and other equipment)
Institutions in Canada are eligible to receive:
- $500 per scholarship recipient to help with administrative costs once the student arrives in Canada; and,
- In some situations, reimbursement of additional employer compliance fees is paid to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.

- Central America: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.
- North America: Mexico
- South America: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
You must also be a full-time student at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country/territory who is paying tuition to that institution at the time of application and for the duration of your exchange.
You are ineligible for this scholarship if you:
- Currently, hold or have a pending application for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, or if you are already enrolled in a scholarship program financed by the Government of Canada.
- Are already enrolled in a post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate program in Canada
Canadian post-secondary institutions that want to host students must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
- Have a valid student exchange agreement with the student’s home institution that waives tuition fees for scholarship recipients (required for college/undergraduate study only)

#3. Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) – for students
On August 6, 2017, the Government of Canada announced the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program to provide opportunities for students from ASEAN member states to conduct short-term study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions in areas that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program aim to reduce poverty in the developing countries of ASEAN and to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Scholarships and educational exchanges will contribute towards the achievement of all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (SDGs).
SEED scholarships are facilitated through institutional collaborations and student exchange agreements between post-secondary institutions in Canada and their partner institutions in ASEAN countries.
The Application Process
Canadian institutions should:
- Submit applications on behalf of eligible candidates
- Promote this scholarship opportunity to faculty and staff members, as well as to partner institutions in ASEAN countries;

Upon Successful Application
Scholarship awardees commit to:
- Pursue full-time study or research as specified by the Canadian school
- Arrive in Canada for the purpose of receiving their grant between August 1, 2022, and February 1, 2023. Failure to appear during this time may cause you to forfeit the scholarship.
- Abstain from clinical training or clinically-oriented research involving direct patient care
- Concentrate largely on full-time study or research during their stay in Canada
- Return to their home institutions to complete their studies following the scholarship period.
