Good for beginners and not-so beginners alike
Amazon’s MMO, New World, may have had a rough start, but it’s finally hitting its stride. More and more players are joining in the fight for Aeternum, and it’s likely to continue in the immediate future. Players are clamoring for the mobs, the resources, and the New World coins they can gather. With the competition being tight as only a small portion of players are in the highest levels, everyone needs these tips.
Here are some good-to-know things to apply while playing New World.
Armor type doesn’t have any bearing on whether you’re considered wearing Light, Medium, or Heavy armor. It’s based on the total weight of your equipment. Wear a mixture of Light armor and Medium armor and you might reach Heavy territory, though that’s an exaggeration. At any rate, you have the freedom to mix and match your preferred armors and still remain in the weight class you want.
It influences how fast your character can move, so choose equipment wisely!
Broken gear only disables the equipment’s perks and buffs. It will still provide its basic Physical and Elemental resistances. Save time, effort, and currency by not repairing your gear. This way it lessens the need to buy New World coins for all the repair fees. Besides, if it doesn’t even have those perks, what use is repairing them if they still boost your defenses?
Movement Speeds and Auto-Traverse
Auto-Traverse is an auto-walk feature of the game. Toggling it on will make your character walk in a chosen direction, climbing up or avoiding small obstacles in the way. If the path is safe enough, you can leave your character walking toward the destination and take a short break.
If actively controlling your character, some skills increase movement speed. In the bow and musket weapon skill trees, some skills speed up movement after dodging. ‘On the Hunt’ also increases movement speed when under the effects of Berserk in the hatchet tree. Other than these, Fleche from the rapier tree and Charge from great axe one are active skills that cover some distance. These skills can speed up travel, so learn whichever you prefer!
Rested XP and Other XP Bonuses
For those aiming to level up fast, consider logging out in towns where you can get Rested XP. It increases the amount of XP received through various sources. It does run out, which means it’s time to log out to get some more again.
Turning on PvP when finishing quests (in town, of course) also increases XP gain. The first three Faction Quests you do will have its XP rewards doubled as well. Mixing these methods up can greatly boost XP gain for leveling up, so take advantage of it.
As for alternative sources for XP, there is reading Lore Pages. You’ll find them around Aeternum, and reading them will give small amounts of XP.
Collect Materials in Town
There are several free nodes in towns, all on a timer. Grab some water from wells, milk some cows, or collect honey in these nodes, without fear that another player will attack you and steal it. Come back every so often and usually these nodes will have replenished themselves.
Faction Standing Cards
These are rewards for increasing Faction Standing. They offer all kinds of perks and boosts. While taking XP boosts might seem a good idea, it loses effectiveness once you’ve reached max level and no longer gain XP. Use these for always beneficial things such as increased inventory space or passive stat boosts.
Craft in Camp Free of Fees
Crafting in your camp is free, though depending on how upgraded it is, your choices can be limited. Still, to get around paying for those pesky fees, it’s a great way to increase your total profits. The alternative is not going to the Trading Post and selling your New World items to other players directly through the chat. Maybe you can cut the fees out entirely and craft in camp while selling your stuff through the chat.
Go and Conquer Aeternum!
With all these tips, you can make your life in New World easier. The most important thing is to have fun playing the game! New World is looking to stick around for some time, though we can only see if it’s going to be a hit or not after some time passes. Still, that’s no excuse to not create a New World account and start playing.
