No matter what your field of work is, workplace anxiety is a problem everyone has to endure. Workplace stress and anxiety aren’t only bad for your health, but it also negatively affects your performance at work.

Workplace anxiety can decrease your productivity and halt your progress while making your job feel like a constant torture. Thus, if you want to enjoy your work and be more productive at the same time, you need to find ways to manage anxiety that your workplace accompanies.

In this article today, I will highlight eight incredible tips that will help you manage workplace anxiety, so keep reading to learn more about the topic.

Reduce the Screen Time 

For most people, work means sitting at a desk and staring at a computer screen all day. It is something that harms your overall health and leads to anxiety and stress.

Therefore, it is important to take a rest from the screen now and then. Ideally, you should set a timer and after every hour or so, you should step away from the screen for a few minutes and walk around the building.

You can go and get yourself a coffee or have a small snack. These small five-minute breaks can refresh your mind and allow you to work more efficiently. Taking such breaks is essential; otherwise, you can fall into a spiral of anxiety and stress, which makes working not only difficult but impossible.

Stretch a Little and Adjust Your Posture 

Though getting up and moving around is quite effective, sometimes you have those kinds of workdays where it is impossible to step away from the screen. You may have a lot of work to do or a deadline to meet and taking breaks isn’t something you can afford.

Well, in such cases, even stretching a little while sitting on your chair and adjusting your posture can make a lot of difference. When we concentrate on our work, we can start to slump towards the screen; it can lead to stiffness in your neck and start hurting your back. Such issues can aggravate anxiety and stress.

Henceforth, stretching your neck a little while sitting, straightening your back, and sitting in a more confident and assertive posture can make a great difference and help you feel less anxious in the meantime.

Interact with Your Work Buddies 

One of the main causes of workplace anxiety is a lack of social interaction. Sometimes, I feel like if I don’t express what is going on in my mind verbally, my mind will probably explode. If you feel the same way when at work, you should take out some time to talk to a work buddy and discuss things that are bothering you.

Now I am not suggesting that you should go around complaining about your job, but having a real conversation about what is bothering you and how you can be constructive about it can help you fight workplace anxiety and be a better employee.

Try Breathing Exercises 

Sometimes workplace anxiety can get worse and lead to panic attacks as well. In such situations, when you feel overwhelmed by your anxious thoughts, you should try breathing exercises to calm down and relax.

Yes, one of the best ways to deal with anxiety and panic attacks is by practicing breathing exercises. It’s my go-to exercise whenever I want to destress my mind and body at work. Here’s what I do: I breathe in through my nose, hold my breath for a couple of seconds, and then breathe out slowly through my mouth.

You can also place a hand on your chest and focus on how it rises and falls as you breathe. This rhythmic breathing can be quite calming and it can help you manage your anxiety when things get rough.

Try Cannabis for Stress-Relief 

Canadian organic cannabis is a popular recreational drug but now more and more people are learning about its medicinal benefits. Cannabis is very effective in countering stress and anxiety; however, you can’t show up high at work.

Therefore, cannabis is a great way to deal with lingering workplace anxiety. When you have a difficult day at work, the anxiety and stress don’t just end with the workday. Instead, they follow you home and make your entire day miserable. Thus, using cannabis in the evenings is recommended to relax and destress.

You can use some Sativa strains during working hours, too. They don’t have a very strong euphoric effect. Not to mention, they can boost your creativity and energy.

Stay Hydrated 

This tip may sound simple, but it can make a lot of difference. When you are focusing on your work, your body uses a lot of energy and water. However, we don’t realize that we are hungry or thirsty while working, which can make us more susceptible to stress and anxiety.

It is precisely why keeping a water bottle at your work desk is highly recommended. I suggest you bring some lightweight snacks as well, if possible. It can be quite helpful in managing workplace anxiety.
