Chartwells Awards of Excellence

Students at Langara College who are enrolled in programs leading to a degree, diploma, associate degree, or transfer to a university are eligible to receive this award. The Chartwells Awards are given out in two categories: one recognizes academic achievement in a degree program, and the other recognizes academic achievement in an associate or career program.

To be eligible for the prize, degree candidates need to have completed 90 credits and maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5. In order to be eligible, students pursuing a university transfer degree, an associate degree, or a diploma must have completed a minimum of 30 credits and maintained a GPA of at least 3.5.

Because Chartwells already offers a scholarship specifically for Bachelor of Science in Nursing students, they are not eligible to apply for this particular grant.

Dora M. Ross Endowed Scholarship

A single parent who is currently enrolled at Langara College in a full-time program and who has successfully completed at least one semester as a full-time student during the previous two semesters is eligible for this scholarship grant. Application from students is necessary in order to be considered for this award. Students must have maintained a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 in the most recent semester to be eligible.

Eduventure Award

At Langara College, the Eduventure Award is presented to a student who is enrolled in one of the following programs full-time: biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics and statistics, physics, or engineering.

Students are required to submit an application in order to be considered for this award; afterwards, one recipient will be chosen. Students who have demonstrated the greatest academic growth over the course of the previous two semesters and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 are eligible to submit an application. Students who are eligible to apply are also able to demonstrate that they are in need of financial support to pursue their educational goals.

Students are required to hand in a letter that is one page long and explains how they fulfill all of the requirements specified. The Eduventure Award is made available to recipients during the academic semesters of the Fall, Spring, and Summer.

Jade Volunteering Excellence Award

This award is given to a student who is both enrolled in a Regular Studies program and attending that program on a full-time basis while also being registered for the VOLT program. In order to be chosen, the student must have demonstrated a noteworthy and excellent commitment to the voluntary efforts that were required on the campus.

Students do not receive any kind of payment or credit for their participation in such voluntary work because it is not a required element of their academic curriculum.

Students who are either enrolled in 9 credits during the current semester or were enrolled in 9 credits during the most recent semester are eligible for this prize.

Langara International Education Scholarship

The Langara Overseas Education Scholarship provides financial assistance to two international students throughout each of the three academic semesters at Langara College. Those kids who have demonstrated exceptionally high academic achievement are given preference.

Leon and Simma Holt Arts & Science Scholarship

This grant is awarded once per semester to an Arts and Science student at Langara College who is attending classes full-time and has achieved exceptional academic success.

At Langara College, the following is a list of all of the criteria that must be met in order to be considered for any type of scholarship:

  • Being a full-time Regular Studies student for that semester which the scholarship is applicable for.
  • Excellent academic performance with at least a cumulative GPA of 3.50.
  • Being currently enrolled in a minimum of nine credit courses. Students must also have enrolled in at least nine credit courses in one of the past two semesters.
  • Students must have been in at least their third semester of study or in the second semester when taking one-year career or vocational programs.
  • Students must meet any other eligibility criteria specified by the scholarship donor.

If a student has a disability that has been registered with Accessibility Services or StudentAid BC, the student is only required to enroll in a minimum of six credit courses rather than nine credit courses in order to be eligible for scholarships.

There are certain sponsors who are willing to award scholarships to kids who are only attending school part-time. Students in this category are required to have registered for six to eight credits in a Regular Studies program during the semester for which the scholarship is available, as well as during at least one of the two most recent semesters.

Students who are attending two or more schools at the same time, commonly known as split enrollment students, are required to take a minimum of nine credits per school in order to be considered for financial aid and scholarships.

Students with the highest cumulative grade point average will be chosen for scholarships that can only be awarded to a select few students, even when a large number of applicants fulfill the minimum cumulative GPA criteria. Aliza and Chaim Kornfield Foundation Bursary
