What you need to know to prepare for class 9th Maths Olympiad

Olympiads are a way of accessing your knowledge, not only nationwide but also worldwide. They are extremely competitive exams that even boost your applications while applying for a college outside India. Mathematics is a subject that needs an enormous amount of devotion and concentration. It is critical to have good fundamentals in mathematics in order to prepare for the class ninth mathematics Olympiad. It is critical for a student competing in a class nine mathematics olympiad to have a strong foundation in mathematics from the sixth to eighth grades in his or her previous classes. Preparing for a mathematics olympiad can be extremely draining, especially when you consider how much concentration is required. When giving a mathematics olympiad, it is critical to remember that practice and a good foundation are critical components. 

Class ninth mathematics even goes one step further and serves as the foundation for Class 10 mathematics. As a result, remember to make good use of your available resources.

1. Map out your syllabus and the pattern of exam

Each student must be completely familiar with the syllabus of their upcoming examination. It provides them with a general understanding of the examination’s structure. After being familiar with your syllabus, a student should concentrate on identifying their strengths and weaknesses. This offers them a general notion of which things they should spend more time on. Following then, each student must concentrate on analyzing the exam’s pattern. What the student needs to look for is which topics cover how many marks, which will provide them with a breakdown of the vital and irrelevant topics, as well as an indication of which area to concentrate on.

2. Plan out a schedule.

Make a schedule for the months ahead and make a point of sticking to it. Make time in your calendar each day for practising maths skills. Invest one to two hours of your day in the subject of mathematics. Concentrate on making incremental improvements in each area. Every student must practice maths daily to get a hang of it. 

3. Test yourself.

5. Focus on time management

Exams, especially mathematics exams, necessitate precise time management. Make sure to plan your time for each area in such a way that you have both revision and reading time at the end and beginning of the examination, respectively. Do not get stuck on any of the questions. Keep the difficult ones until later. Play to your strengths. Do not get distracted by other students around you and keep your focus intact. 

6. Use tricks to help learn the formulas 

If you are the type of person who has difficulty memorizing formulas, you can employ mathematical techniques to assist you in learning the formulas. Post-it notes with all the formulas on them should be placed on your study table. Every day, read them aloud to yourself. It will make it easier for you to memorize and remember the formulas when it comes time to take the examination. Remember that while formulas are vital, concepts are just as crucial. Always remember to make the concept behind each formula very clear.

7. Clear your doubts and ask for help

Make certain that you have answered all of your questions prior to taking the examination, no matter how small or large. Request the assistance of a teacher. Do not be afraid to speak up. It is critical to understand the subject’s fundamentals thoroughly, both for the sake of the examination and for future reference. 

8. Do not panic

While administering the examination, maintain your composure and clarity of thought. You should not be alarmed or yield to unwarranted pressure. Panic only leads to more turmoil and unneeded mayhem in the world. When students are under pressure, they are more prone to making mistakes than usual. Go into the examination hall with complete self-assurance. Do not lose several months of practice by being overly anxious. Maintaining a calm and clean mind can assist you in better concentrating on the solutions. Make sure you choose the right option for the solution. Recheck your answers once you are done.
